Introduction:

This blog is going to talk about eight beautiful expressions used by muslims. Zikr is almost everything for muslims.Of course, islam is conduct, transactions and ebadat. However, prophet mohammad said in one of the hadith: (“Let your tongue be moist because of zikrullah”).For this reason, there are more than seven beautiful expressions used by believers.
In another hadith, prophet mohammad said: (“The analogy of the muslim who mentions Allah and those who do not is like the difference between the dead and the living human”). This shows us the importance of mentioning allah. Moreover, Allah praised the muslims who mentioned their Lord.

Al-hamdulillah:

Allah is the giver of all good things. All the blessings which we enjoy are from Allah only. The blessings of Allah are too many to count. Even one blessing from Allah is too much for our brains to reckon with. The phrase (“Alhamdulillah”)is a marvelous phrase. It expresses more than giving thanks to Allah for the uncountable blessings. Alhamdulillah means in Arabic (“Praise be to allah”). Therefore, it is different from the English phrase (“Thank you”). Thank you is an expression of thanking someone for some favor. On the other hand (Alhamdulillah”) means praise be to allah. Allah is all-rich and needless to be praised. However, it is the muslim who benefit from praising Allah.

Subhanallah:

One of the great expressions of glorification is to say (“Subhanallah”) it means in Arabic(“Glory be to Allah”) in this phrase, a muslim glorifies their lord. It is a great honor for a muslim to glorify their lord. This is simply because Allah glorified Himself more than once in the Holy Quran. In this way, a muslim imitates their lord in one of the actions of Allah. The phrase (“Subhanallah”) pleases and satisfies Allah a lot. Therefore, there is a great reward which a servant attains when they simply say (“Subhanallah”). The act of glorifying Allah is the act of Allah as well as the prophets and messengers of Allah. Therefore, (“Subhanallah”) makes a believer do the acts of the previous honorable prophets and messengers.

Allahu Akbar:

Allahu akbar is one of the everlasting good deeds in islam. Prophet Mohammad said that the everlasting good deeds are:
(“Subahanallahu, al-hamdulillah, la ilaha illa allahu, allahu akbar, ….”). It is really a great phrase and expression to say. Allahu akbar means (“Allah is Greater”). A believer can say allah Kabeer. It means that (“allah iss great”). However, when a muslim says allahu akbar, a muslim means that allah is greater than everything else. Therefore, when a slave of Allah feels happy, a muslim says allahu akbar. This means that Allah is greater than the greatest joy of the world. When a muslim encounters any hardships, a muslim says allahu akbar. This is a good source of condolence and relief. The support of Allah is greater than any sorrow a muslim can ever encounter.

Barakallahu feek:

Allah says in the Holy Quran:
((“Tell those who have believed to say the best words”)). Words are the greatest source of either amity or enmity. Therefore, it is nice in the first place to thank people for a favor which they have done to us. It is good to say thank you. However, it is always better to such people (“Barakallahu Feek”). It means Allah bless you. This expression is far more expressive and eloquent than any other ways to thank people and be grateful to them. When a muslim says (“Barakallahu Feek”), a muslim doesn’t only thank those whom he or she addresses, the muslim makes dua for the addresses. The dua implores Baraka to the addressed person.

La Hawla Wala Quwwata Illa Billah:

It is a great expression and phrase for a muslim to say.(“La hawla wala quwwata illa billah”) means that (“There is no might nor capability without the help of Allah”). In this expression, a muslim surrenders their abilities and talent to Allah. Moreover, the muslim denies any capability of their own. In the meantime, the muslim admits that the might and power all belong to Allah. This nullifies any sense of pride or arrogance on the part of the muslim. A muslim bears in mind very well that pride and arrogance were Satan’s deadly sins which caused Satan to be expelled out of the mercy of Allah altogether.

Mashallah:

The Holy Quran sounds and echoes at every moment and second in a muslim’s life. Muslims learn a lot of lessons from the Holy Quran’s stories. One of the stories of the Holy Quran is the story of the man with the two gardens. The man with the two gardens lost them because he was too arrogant to acknowledge the favor of Allah. The man’s friend rebuked and blamed him for this. Reproaching his friend, the believing friend commented saying that the owner of the two gardens should have said (“Mashallah la quwwata ila billah”). In that case, the two gardens would have survived.

Astaghfirullah:

The greatest objective of a believer is to reach the pleasure and satisfaction of Allah. This great objective can be reached when Allah forgives his slaves. Allah is all- generous and benevolent. Therefore, Allah calls himself Ghafir, Ghaffar and Ghafoor. This is to encourage his slaves and servants to repent and ask their lord for forgiveness. The phrase(“Astaghirullah”) means (“I ask the forgiveness of Allah”). Asking the forgiveness of Allah is the key to many good things. When a muslim wants forgiveness, they say (“Astaghfirullah”). When a muslim needs rain, they should say (“Astaghfirullah”). If a muslim needs to have children, especially boys, let them say (“Astaghfirullah”). If a muslim needs more money, they should say (“Astaghfirullah”). When a muslim aspires to enter paradise, they ought to say (“Astaghfirullah”).
