Introduction:
This blog is going to discuss and talk about some sunnahs of Jumuah. Friday is the weekly feast of Muslims.
Prophet Mohammad said in one hadith that(“Friday is the best day on which the sun has ever risen. This is because Friday is the day when Allah created Adam. On one of the Fridays, Allah admitted Adam into the (Garden of Eden). On another Friday, Allah expelled Adam out of the (Garden of Eden). The Hour will also be on a Friday”).
قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم: ( “إن يوم الجمعة خير يوم طلعت عليه الشمس. فيه خلق الله آدم وفيه أدخل الجنة وفيه أخرج منها وفيه تقوم الساعة”)
Therefore, Muslims come together every Friday to celebrate this great day. Muslims should look their best on Friday, because it is the weekly feast day for Muslims.
Preparations for al-jumuah:
Islam is the religion of purity. In Islamic studies, purity in Islam takes place with pure water. Therefore, the first duty for a Muslim is to be pure. The purity should be in the body, clothes and the place wherever a Muslim is. One of the etiquettes of al-Jumuah is to take a shower. Scholars in Islamic studies call this wash Ghusl of al-Jumuah.Ghusl al-Jumuah is obligatory for all adult Muslims. However, one of the sunnah of al-Jumuah is the Fajr prayer on Friday. During this Fajr prayer, the Imam reads surah al Sajdah which includes the ayah of al-Sajdah. Also, a Muslim should greet prophet Mohammad and send prayers to him all through the day and the night of Friday.
The sunnahs of the friday prayer:
Prophet Mohammad recommended that a Muslim should read surah al-Kahf any time during the day or the night of Friday. Prophet Mohammad said in one hadith that: (“Whoever reads surah al-Kahf on Friday, Allah will illuminate for him or her the time between the two Fridays”).
.(“من قرأ سورة الكهف في يوم الجمعة أضاء له من النور ما بين الجمعتين”)
After making al-Ghusl of al-Jumuah, a Muslim should wear his or her best clothes. It is a sunnah for Muslim males to wear the white color on Friday. It is also a sunnah for males to wear some perfume on Friday. Muslims get together on Friday. Therefore, a Muslim shouldn’t eat food containing garlic or onion ingredients in them. This is because of their offensive smells.
The sunnahs of being in the mosque on friday:
After doing Ghusl and wearing white clothes and some perfumes, a Muslim heads for the mosque as early as they can before the Jumuah prayer. Of course, with Ghusl al-Jumuah, a Muslim should cut the nails of their fingers and toes. This is for more purity and hygiene. When arriving at the mosque, a Muslim should not rush. They should walk with serenity all the way. Having arrived at the mosque, a Muslim should enter it with the right foot first saying the dua of entering into the mosque. A Muslim should be keen on sitting in the first rows. He or she should offer some voluntary rakat before he or she sits down.
The sunnah of friday after the prayer:
A Muslim should attend the Friday prayer. They should listen carefully and attentively to the sermon. Having attended the sermon and performed the prayer, a Muslim should leave the mosque in the same way he or she entered it. First without pushing or hurrying, a Muslim should head for the gate of the mosque. He or she should say the mosque exit dua. a Muslim should walk home or wherever they want to go in a decent manner. All through the rest of the day, a Muslim should send greetings and prayers to prophet Mohammad. Moreover, a Muslim should anticipate the ((Hour of Answer)). It is the promised hour when Allah answers a Muslim’s supplication on Friday.
