Therefore, they are not deceived by the world and its adornments.they do not fall into the drawers of its temptations. Moreover, let them know that honor is not in luxury. Instead, it lies in holding fast to the rope of faith in addition to adhering to the guidance of the Qur’an. This should happen even if it is on the top of a mountain or in the depths of a cave.

The story of man with the two gardens:
Almighty Allah said:
“واضرب لهم مثلًا رجلين جعلنا لأحدهما جنتين من أعناب وحففناهما بنخل وجعلنا بينهما زرعًا” (الكهف: 32)
((“And tell them the story of the two men. to one of them, we made two gardens of grapes with turfs of palm trees. Moreover, we made plantation between them”))
There were two men. One of them was rich. He owned two vineyards. There were lots of trees and plantations. Streams and rivers ran through them. He lived in great luxury.
- The arrogant rich man:
The rich man was not grateful to Allah. On the contrary, he grew arrogant. The wealthy man thought that blessing will last forever. He boasted over his poor friend. The rich man said that he had more money and children than his friends. He went on to say: ((“I do not think that there will be resurrection or the hour; or that these gardens will be ruined one day.)) He even doubted and denied resurrection.
- The believing friend’s advice:
His believing friend tried to advise him and remind him of Allah. The believing friend said:
“أكفرت بالذي خلقك من تراب ثم من نطفة ثم سواك رجلًا؟”
((Have you disbelieved in your Creator who created you out of a sperm. Later, He made you a mature man?”))
The poor friend advised the rich one to say on getting into his vineyards”
“ما شاء الله لا قوة إلا بالله”
((“This is what Allah determined. There is no might nor power except with Allah.))
- Alah’s punishment and the end of arrogance:
The rich man did not take his friend’s advice. Consequently, Allah sent torture to his vineyard. Soon, it was destroyed and became a barren desert. It turned into ruins:
“فأصبحت كالصريم”
As a result, the rich man regrette and said:
“يا ليتني لم أشرك بربي أحدًا”
((“I wish i had not taken a partner with my lord”))
The lessons learnt from the story:
- Thanking Allah from the blessings preserves them.
- Denying Allah’s favors ruins them.
- Modesty is recommended, arrogance leads to destruction.
- True wealth is not just capital.
- The true wealth is faith and piety.
