In addition, the month of shaban is a virtuous occasion. It is the month in which Allah commanded prophet Mohammad, to direct his face towards al-kaaba in makkah. Before that date, muslims had directed their faces towards Jerusalem in palestine. The incident is known as changing al-qibla.
the history of fasting ramadan
fasting the month of ramadan became gradually obligatory for muslims. First, fasting the tenth of al-muharram Allah made it obligatory. However, Islam cancelled this. Next fasting Ramadan was optional.Allah prescribed fasting from after sleeping at night till sunset the following day. then Islam made fastinhg obligatory from dawn to sunset. a muslim would abstain from eating, drinking, etc all day long. fasting Islam made fasting obligatory in the second year after the prophet’s migration to al-madinah.
The night of the middle of the lunar hijri month of Sha’ban is very important in Islam. It is the night of the day on which Islam changed the qibla. By changing the qibla, the scholars mean diverting Muslims’ faces. It was when muslims changed their faces. Muslims used to direct their faces towards Jerusalem during their prayers. However, muslims wanted so much to direct their faces towards al-kaaba in makkah. Therefore, Muslims worldwide, especially in the Uk celebrate this great night. Finally, Allah allowed them to pray towards al-kaaba in makkah.
why the middle night of sha’ban is important
This important incident and occasion took place in Sha’ban in the second year after the prophet’s migration to al-madinah. Muslims had been praying for sixteen months towards jerusalem. Many of the prophet’s hadith mentioned the favor of such a great night. However, scholars disagree about which day it was. Some scholars said that it was on the seventeenth of sha’ban. others said that it was on the fifteenth of Rajab. Therefore, muslims especially in the UK celebrate this occasion by mentioning Allah, praying, making dua and reciting the holy Quran. In addition, some scholars called it the night of intercession. At that night, Allah appreciates the good deeds and distributes mercy and provision to the good servants.
