This blog is going to talk about an important lunar month. This blog is going to talk about the third lunar month on the hijri calendar. This is the month of Rabie al-awal. The name Rabie means spring in english. This may be because it often comes in spring. The Arabs saw their land turned into the green color in Rabie al-awal. Many famous islamic events and incidents took place in the lunar month of Rabie al-awal. We are going to discuss some of these events in this blog. In addition, we are going to talk about the favor of this virtuous month. Added to that, we are going to talk about some good deeds which a Muslim should do in the month of Rabie al-awal. Therefore, we should know the most important events in Rabie al-awal.
The Prophet’s birth in Rabie al-awal:
The birth of the Prophet was in Rabi’ al-Awwal: Prophet Muhammad, was born in the year 571 AD, in the lunar month of Rabi’ al-Awwal. This year is in Islamic and Arab history as the Year of the Elephant. It took its name from the elephant of the Ethiopian military leader Abraha. He wanted to demolish the Kaaba in Mecca. Allah sent birds that pelted them with stones of baked clay. Finally, Allah protected the Kaaba. This military campaign was only fifty-five days before the birth of the Prophet Muhammad,. The Holy Quran documented this incident in Surat al-Fil. It is one of the most important events in Rabie al-awal.
Hijrah from makkah to madinah:
abdullah grew up, got married and got mohammad as his first and only son. prophet mohammad called the people of makkah to embrace islam. he kept calling them to embrace it for ten years. Eventually, the people of makkah got bored with the prophet and his call. Finally, they decided to kill prophet mohammad. So he decided to migrate to al-madinah, about four hundred and fifty kilometers north of makkah. The prophet’s migration to al-madinah was the most important historical incident in islam. without this migration, islam would have died and ended in makkah. the religion of allah would have died in its cradle in makkah. after the prophet’s migration to al-madinah, islam spread all over the arabian peninsula. After the prophet’s death, islam spread everywhere. Hirat al-Rasool was one of the most important events in Rabie al-awal.
First mosques: Quba – al-masjid al-nabawi:
prophet mohammad began his migration to al-madinah in the first days of the lunar month of Rabie al-awal. About eight days later, prophet mohammad, accompanied by his closest friend abu bakr, arrived at al-madinah. They stayed for a couple of days at Quba, just outside almadinah. During that brief period of time, prophet mohammad built the first mosque in islam. it was the mosque of Quba. after a brief rest in the area of Quba, prophet mohammad and abu bakr moved into al-madinah. the first thing they did inside al-madinah was to build the mosque inside the town. it was very important to do so. the mosque was the center of al-madinah where prophet mohammad met with his companions and followers. Building the mosque in al-madina was one of the most important events in Rabie al-awal.
The prophet’s marriage with Khadijah
at the age of twenty-five, prophet mohammad married for the first time. it was about fifteen years before the first revelation when lady Khadija saw prophet mohammad as a good suitor for her. the wise and virtuous Khadija choose prophet mohammad as her husband. aged about forty, Khadija was a mature woman who decided that Mohammad was the suitable man for her to live the rest of her life with. in fact, prophet Mohammad’s marriage to Khadija was a great blessing for both spouses. Khadija was the real support to prophet mohammad in his call to the stubborn people of makkah. on his part, prophet Mohammad was the decent husband who appreciated khadija’s presence in his life. throughout their marital life, prophet Mohammad honored Khadija and acknowledged her favors. Marrying Khadija was one of the most important events in Rabie al-awal.
The battle of Bani al-Nadhir:
The prophet and his companies were busy defending a-madina during the battle of the trench. The Arabs and the people of Makkah decided to end the existence of Muslims and islam altogether. Therefore, they formed a collision. The allied forces got encouragement and support from bani al-nadhir. bani al–nadir were the residents of al-madina who had vowed to defend the city with Muslims against any possible attack. However, the jews of Banu al-Nadir proved to be treacherous and violated the treaty with Muslims. Therefore, prophet Mohammad decided to punish the jews. Eventually, he decided to drive them out of the town. This happened after the battle of Bani al-nadhir. It was also in the lunar month of Rabie al-awal. The Quran documented this incident in surah al-hashr. The battle of bani al-Nadir was one of the most important events in Rabie al-awal.
The prophet’s death.
The month or Rabie al–awal witnessed many important events and incidents in the history of islam. prophet mohammad was born in Rabie al-awal. he married Khadija and migrated in this blessed lunar month. he built the mosque in Rabie al-awal too. for twenty-three years, the prophet called people to embrace the religion of allah. however, everything has got an end. the revelation was completed. the mission was done. The prophet of Allah was a human. humans die one day. after returning to al-madina, The last prophet wanted to visit al-baqi. he visited the martyrs of the battle of badr. The seal prophet got seriously ill afterwards. he had a fever for nine days. it was time prophet mohammad died. prophet mohammad died in the lunar month of Rabie al-awal in the year eleven after al-hijra. The prophet’s death was one of the most important events of Rabie al-awal.
