Hence, these sacred nights inspire Muslims to dedicate themselves to acts of worship. Therefore, muslims do acts such as prayer, Quran recitation, and supplication. Doing so, Muslims seek Allah’s infinite mercy and blessings.
Rescue from the hellfire torture
However, as the end of Ramadan approaches, many find themselves distracted by preparations for Eid al-Fitr. Nevertheless, t is a joyous celebration that marks the conclusion of fasting. For this reason, t is important to prepare for this special occasion. In fact, these last nights are a reminder to prioritize spiritual devotion and maximize the rewards of Ramadan. Therefore, the odd nights, in particular, are an opportunity to focus on eternal blessings. Truly, this makes them a time for reflection, forgiveness, and renewal. With the start of the last ten days of Ramadan, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) would tighten his waist belt. In fact, this symbolized increased effort and devotion. Practically, he would pray all night,. Furthermore, the prophet would wake his family for worship,. Really, e would dedicate himself entirely to acts of faith.
Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree
This special night, Laylat al-Qadr, is mentioned in
Surah Al-Qadr (97:3):
لَيْلَةُ ٱلْقَدْرِ خَيْرٌۭ مِّنْ أَلْفِ شَهْرٍۢ
The significance of this night lies in its immense rewards. In addition, this is also because it is the night when the Quran was revealed. Amazingly, worship on this night is far superior to worship over 1,000 months, making it an unparalleled opportunity for spiritual growth. On regular nights, the Prophet (ﷺ) would wake Aisha (RA) to perform her Witr prayer, but during the last ten nights of Ramadan, he would wake all his wives to ensure they participated in prayer and supplication. He would spend the entire night in Salah and Du’a, not wanting to miss a single moment of these blessed hours.
It is also on this night that Allah decrees the fate of all beings for the upcoming year. Matters such as life, death, honor, humiliation, and events like famine and drought are all written and presented to the angels. The night is so blessed that the angels descend upon the earth, further magnifying its significance.
I’tikaf: The Act of Seclusion
I’tikaf is a deeply spiritual act of worship. A believer dedicates themselves to seclusion in a mosque. This happens during the last ten days of Ramadan. This practice allows Muslims to focus solely on their relationship with Allah. This way, they are free from worldly distractions. During I’tikaf, individuals immerse themselves in acts of worship. They can do prayer, Quran recitation. They can also do Dhikr (remembrance of Allah), and sincere supplication. The goal of I’tikaf is to seek Allah’s mercy. They can also seek forgiveness, and blessings, particularly during Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree. This act of seclusion provides a unique opportunity. At that night, Muslims can do self-reflection and spiritual renewal,. This encourages believers to deepen their faith and draw closer to their Creator.
