Introduction:
Prophet Mohammad once said: “There are seasons of worship all year long. take the chance and worship allah.” During their Islamic studies’ courses and the Holy Quran Tajweed courses, kids learn that this hadith encourages Muslims to worship Allah as much as they can. As a reminder for Hifz ul Quran and Islamic studies courses kids learn that one of these seasons, occasions and preferred days of worship is Ashura.
The importance of the tenth of al-Muharram:
As soon as prophet Mohammad arrived and settled in al-Madina, he saw the jews going fasting on Ashura. During their Islamic studies’ courses and the Holy Quran Tajweed courses, kids learn that when prophet Mohammad asked them why they went on fasting on Ashura, they said it was the day on which Allah rescued Mousa and his followers from the tyrannical pharoah. Prophet Mohammad said that he and his followers were closer to Mousa than the jews themselves. At that point, prophet Mohammad promised, intended and vowed to go fasting on Ashura the following year. However, prophet Mohammad intended to go fasting on the ninth and the tenth or the tenth and the eleventh of al-Muharram. As a reminder for Hifz ul Quran and Islamic studies courses, kids learn that this was to be different from the practice of the Jews.
The story of mousa and the pharaoh:
Prophet Mousa was returning home to Egypt after he had spent ten years abroad. Mousa, accompanied by his wife, were walking at night across Sinai. Mousa saw a fire from afar. He asked his wife to stay as she was. Mousa wanted to collect news or get some burning coal for his wife to get warm or cook food. However, when Mousa reached the spot, he was commanded to take off his boots. During their Islamic studies’ courses and the Holy Quran Tajweed courses, kids learn that Allah spoke to Mousa in person. Mousa got the commands from Allah to go to the pharaoh to warn him. As a reminder for Hifz ul Quran and Islamic studies courses kids learn that afraid of the might of the pharaoh, Mousa asked for support.
The great confrontation:
Allah gave Mousa two signs; the white hand and the cane. Mousa asked for more support. Allah sent Haroun, Mousa’s brother as another messenger to support his brother, mousa. Eventually, Mousa went to the pharaoh’s palace and challenged the tyrant. The pharaoh got mad with fury and chased the believers westward. During their Islamic studies’ courses and the Holy Quran Tajweed courses, kids learn that they reached the seashore. At that point, Allah gave Mousa and the pharaoh a third sign. The same sign, the sea, was a warning for the pharaoh to believe in allah. On the other hand, it was an extra support for Mousa not to worry. The cane of Mousa turned the sea water into two mountains between which Mousa could cross. As a reminder for Hifz ul Quran and Islamic studies courses kids learn that the pharaoh couldn’t and drowned. This way, Allah rescued Mousa; and the jews celebrated on that day. That day was the tenth of al-Muharram.
