If you live in the United Kingdom and want to learn Quran online — for yourself, for your children, or both — this page will save you a week of research. It is the same orientation we give every new Eaalim Institute student in Britain on day one: what to expect, how to start, what good looks like, and what a reasonable price is in 2026.

Eaalim Institute has been delivering live one-to-one online Quran classes to British families since 2009. Our teachers are Al-Azhar University graduates, our pricing is in pounds, our schedule fits BST and GMT, and our first class is always free.

Why British Muslim Families Choose Online Quran Classes

Across London, Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds, Bradford, Glasgow, Cardiff, Belfast and the smaller towns in between, the same shift is happening: Saturday madrasah remains beloved, but the bulk of weekly Quran learning has moved online. The reasons are practical rather than ideological.

One-to-One Attention

A live online class is one teacher and one student. Your child reads aloud for the full 30 minutes, with every Tajweed slip corrected on the spot.

UK-Time Scheduling

Eaalim's teachers work across GMT/BST. Early-morning slots before school, late-evening slots after work — matched to British clocks.

No Travel

A 30-minute class is genuinely 30 minutes. No drive across South London, no parking, no waiting in the masjid foyer with three other siblings.

Specialised Tracks

Children, adults, reverts, neurodivergent learners and Hifz students need different methodologies. Online lets us match each precisely.

Family Pricing in £

Transparent monthly plans in GBP, family discounts, and the option to pause during exams or hospital stays.

Real Tajweed Mastery

Live correction every few seconds — impossible in a 25-child group class. The single biggest reason online Quran classes work.

What "Learn Quran Online" Actually Means at Eaalim

Some online academies are essentially WhatsApp tutoring. Others are recorded video courses. Eaalim is neither. A standard Eaalim Quran class is:

  • Live — over Zoom, Skype or Google Meet, two video feeds, real time.

  • One-to-one — never grouped with other students unless a parent specifically requests it.

  • Structured — using the Eaalim Mushaf, the Aalim colour-coded book and our internal syllabus, so each lesson has a clear plan and a clear next step.

  • Tracked — your teacher logs progress and a parent can see how a child is doing month over month.

  • Adaptable — one week we focus on Tajweed correction, the next on memorisation review, depending on what the student needs.

The UK Curriculum: What You Will Actually Learn

Eaalim runs four core programmes in English. Most British students take one or two of them at any given time.

PROGRAMME 1

Noorani Qaida (Foundations)

The starting point for any beginner aged 4 to 84. Teaches the 28 Arabic letters, their shapes, vowels, sukoon, shaddah, tanween, and the rules of joining letters. By the end, a student can sound out any Arabic word. Typical UK student completes Qaida in 12–16 weeks at two classes per week.

PROGRAMME 2

Quran Reading With Tajweed

Once Qaida is solid, students start reading from the Holy Quran — Surah Al-Fatihah, then Juz' Amma upward — with live Tajweed rules layered in: Ghunnah, Noon Saakin, Meem Saakin, Madd timing and Makharij. Most British students reach confident Juz' Amma recitation within 6–12 months.

PROGRAMME 3

Hifz (Quran Memorisation)

For families who want their child to become a Hafiz/Hafiza, usually for ages 7+. Combines fresh memorisation (Sabaq), recent revision (Sabaq Para) and old revision (Manzil), at a realistic UK pace of half to one page per day. See our parent's guide to online Hifz.

PROGRAMME 4

Arabic for Quran Understanding

Reading the Quran is a beautiful achievement; understanding what you read is the next horizon. Quran-focused vocabulary, basic grammar to follow simple verses, and gradual translation work — pairs well with Tajweed for adults wanting deeper Salah and Tarawih connection.

How an Eaalim Online Quran Class Actually Works

If you have never taken an online Quran lesson, here is the practical flow of a typical 30-minute class:

  1. Open the link. Five minutes before class your teacher sends a Zoom or Skype link via WhatsApp or email.

  2. Greeting and recap. The teacher greets the student, asks how the week went, and briefly reviews last lesson's notes.

  3. Warm-up reading. The student reads what was assigned last week, while the teacher screen-shares the same page on the Mushaf and follows along.

  4. Live correction. Mistakes are corrected immediately — articulation, vowel length, Tajweed rules. The teacher demonstrates the correct sound, the student repeats.

  5. New material. A new ayah, a new rule, or a new exercise is introduced. The student tries it, the teacher refines.

  6. Homework. Clear, specific homework — usually "read these three lines daily, recite them in next class". Sent in writing after the lesson.

  7. Du'a and farewell. Short du'a, encouragement, end on a positive note.

Why Al-Azhar Certification Matters

Al-Azhar University in Cairo, founded in 970 CE, is the oldest continuously operating Islamic university in the world. Its graduates have spent at least twelve years studying Quran, Arabic, Tajweed, Fiqh and Aqeedah inside one of the most rigorous programmes in the Muslim world.

When you book an Eaalim teacher, you are not booking a hobbyist who memorised a few surahs and decided to teach part-time. You are booking someone who recites the Quran with a verifiable chain (sanad) and who has been examined repeatedly on Tajweed by some of the most respected scholars alive today.

For a British family, this matters in three concrete ways:

  • Pronunciation accuracy. Al-Azhar trains its students to differentiate between letters that English speakers commonly confuse — Daad / Zaa, Tha / Sa, 'Ayn / Hamzah.

  • Methodology. Al-Azhar teachers are trained in pedagogy, not just recitation. They know how to break a difficult rule into ten small steps a 7-year-old can grasp.

  • Theological safety. Al-Azhar follows the mainstream Sunni tradition — the safest default for British Muslim families across the various madhhab backgrounds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Submit your details on the Eaalim free trial page, agree a 30-minute slot in UK time with our coordinator, and take your free first class with an Al-Azhar certified teacher over Zoom or Skype. After the trial you choose a weekly schedule and a monthly plan in pounds — Eaalim does the rest.

Yes. Eaalim's curriculum is delivered in fluent English, our teachers are trained to teach children whose first language is English, and our slots fit UK after-school hours (4–7pm BST/GMT). The Eaalim Mushaf and colour-coded Aalim book make it easy for children to follow along visually.

Absolutely. A large share of our British students are working adults and reverts. Most start with Noorani Qaida from scratch, even if they already pray, because the foundational gaps are the main reason adult learners stall. Evening and weekend slots fit around UK work schedules.

Pricing is in GBP and starts well below the UK industry average of £8 per 30-minute class. Plans are based on the number of weekly classes (2, 3 or 5), with automatic family discounts for two or more children. The first class is free. See the pricing page for current rates.

Every Eaalim Quran instructor is a graduate of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, the oldest Islamic university in the world. Each teacher holds a verified ijazah in Quran recitation and has trained for at least twelve years in Quran, Tajweed, Arabic and Islamic sciences.

Yes — online is in many ways stronger than group classes for Tajweed. Your teacher sees your mouth in close-up over Zoom, hears every articulation clearly, and corrects each rule on the spot. Eaalim's Tajweed curriculum covers Ghunnah, Noon Saakin and Tanween rules, Meem Saakin rules, Madd timing and Makharij in clear, sequential lessons.

Yes. Eaalim has a full roster of female Al-Azhar certified teachers available across UK time slots. Just request a female teacher when booking your free trial — it is a routine preference and we match it without question.

Yes. Our Hifz programme is designed for British schoolchildren aged 7+ and runs alongside their academic schedule. We use the standard Sabaq / Sabaq Para / Manzil structure with a realistic UK pace of half a page to one page per day, plus daily revision. Many of our UK students are on track to complete Hifz over 4–6 years while attending state or independent school.

Yes. Eaalim has dedicated guides and trained teachers for neurodivergent learners — see our resources on Quran learning for children with ADHD, autism and Down syndrome. Lessons are paced individually, with sensory-aware methods and patient teachers who understand that one-size-fits-all teaching does not work for every child.

Zoom, Skype or Google Meet — Eaalim supports all three. You'll receive the link before each class. We recommend a tablet or laptop (not a phone), a £15 wired headset with microphone, and a stable internet connection. Our coordinators help every new UK family with the first-time setup.

That is normal in the first one or two lessons. Tell us, and we switch teachers within a week with no fuss and no extra cost. We would rather move you to the right teacher early than have a child quietly disengage.

Three differences: every Eaalim teacher is Al-Azhar certified (many cheaper academies use unqualified part-timers); our schedule fits UK time, not Cairo time; and our methodology — the Eaalim Mushaf, the colour-coded Aalim book, structured progress reports — is built for British families who want measurable progress, not just a Zoom link.
