Al-Jahr

Introduction:

This blog is going to talk about and discuss one of the most important rules of Tajweed. Tajweed means to make it perfect. Therefore, the science of Tajweed is interested in reading and reciting the holy Quran in the perfect way which prophet Mohammad read and recited the holy Quran. It is worth mentioning that prophet Mohammad himself learnt how to recite and read the holy Quran through angel Jibril himself. Anyway,al- jahr literally means being apparent. Technically speaking, a-ljahr means the discontinuation of the breath when pronouncing the letter due to the strength in its origin. This pronunciation relies on the point of articulation, its Makhraj.

 

The letters of al-jahr:

Apart from the letters of hams, the rest of the letters of the Arabic alphabet are the letters of al-jahr. The letters of al-hams are: فحثه شخص سكت. Therefore, these letters are: أ - ب - ج - د - ذ - ر - ز -  ض - ط - ظ - ع - غ - ق - ل - م - ن - و - ي
