Who Was Lady Sarah

Noble Lineage:  Lady Sarah to come from a noble background and a family of faith, unlike the people of Ibrahim’s who worshipped idols.

The First Wife of Ibrahim: In addition, she married Prophet Ibrahim before his prophethood and shared in his journey of spreading the message of monotheism.

When Prophet Ibrahim‘s people  rejected him , he migrated to the blessed lands of Sham (Greater Syria). Therefore, Lady Sarah remained his steadfast companion, enduring all challenges alongside him

The Incident in Egypt

On their travels, Prophet Ibrahim and Lady Sarah visited Egypt. There, the tyrant king wanted to take beautiful women by force. When the king attempted to harm Sarah because of her beauty, Allah protected her. Suddenly,  seeing Allah’s divine intervention, the king released her   unharmed and even gifted her Hajar as a servant. Truly, this incident highlights Allah’s protection of the righteous and Sarah’s unwavering faith in Him.

The Glad Tidings of Ishaq 

For many years, Lady Sarah remained childless,. Consequently, this brought her great sadness. Despite her advanced age, she never lost hope in Allah’s mercy. However, one day, Allah sent angels in the form of guests to visit Prophet Ibrahim. Surprisingly, they brought with them glad tidings of a son:

{وَامْرَأَتُهُ قَائِمَةٌ فَضَحِكَتْ فَبَشَّرْنَاهَا بِإِسْحَاقَ وَمِن وَرَاءِ إِسْحَاقَ يَعْقُوبَ}
(Surah Hud: 71)

Lady Sarah was amazed at this news and said:

{قَالَتْ يَا وَيْلَتَى أَأَلِدُ وَأَنَا عَجُوزٌ وَهَذَا بَعْلِي شَيْخًا إِنَّ هَذَا لَشَيْءٌ عَجِيبٌ}
(Surah Hud: 72)

Despite her surprise, Allah fulfilled His promise, and Lady Sarah gave birth to Ishaq. Later he became a prophet and the father of many prophets.

Her Honored Status

For all the above, Lady Sarah’s life holds a unique place in Islamic tradition:

So, Islam honored Lady Sara as the mother of Prophet Ishaq, from whose lineage came many prophets, including Yaqub (Jacob) and Yusuf (Joseph).

Truly, she displayed immense patience through her years of childlessness.

Really, Allah blessed her and protected her in miraculous ways, emphasizing her status as a righteous woman

In brief, Lady Sarah’s story teaches us never to lose hope in Allah’s mercy, no matter how difficult or improbable a situation may seem.

The incident in Egypt shows how Allah defends those who trust Him, no matter how dire the situation.

لَقَدْ كَانَ فِى قَصَصِهِمْ عِبْرَةٌۭ لِّأُو۟لِى ٱلْأَلْبَـٰبِ ۗ
